Paeonia Gardens is based in North Vancouver, BC Canada & offers garden design, consultation, installation, maintenance, and containers.

Qualifications

Jen studied Landscape Design & Horticulture in Western North Carolina in 2005 before moving to Vancouver, BC in 2007.  She has worked for B.B. Barns garden center & nursery in sales and plant knowledge, assisted Euphoric Euphorbia in specialty garden maintenance on Vancouver’s North Shore, and worked as office support sourcing plants for projects, assisting with estimates, and meeting with clients for Houston Landscapes, a large scale landscape construction company specializing in high end residential and commercial projects.

Naturally an artist, Jen employs principles she uses in her oil paintings and applies them to garden design – the use of form & architecture, color, and texture.  She utilizes native plant materials and organic methods in her designs and enjoys styling pacific northwest gardens. Paeonia Gardens offers consultations, design work, installation & project management, as well as maintenance & on-going care.

Jen also enjoys time with her husband and family. She pursues an active lifestyle which includes Bikrams yoga, trail running, surfing & snowboarding to name a few.  She loves playing acoustic guitar, creating oil paintings, singing & songwriting, children of third world countries, dogs, good friends, and living by the ocean.

design philosophy…

I enjoy every aspect of each garden I work with – I love the challenge of creating a new space or renovating an existing garden and the uniqueness of each project. By partnering with my clients, I unite their goals, ideas, and budget with my ability to design using plant materials and transform their landscape.  I also enjoy the intimacy of installing what I design and feel the hand’s on process is crucial.  Whether it’s a project I work on for five months or two days, my goal is to provide a personalized, enjoyable experience for each client while delivering a final result that exceeds their expectations. I design holistically, connecting the interior design & architecture of the residence with the flow in exterior design, because I believe a garden is an extension of the space we exist in.  It is the garden which serves as our own natural refuge in which to retreat for solitude, beauty, and calm.
